Mengenang Karya Karl Lagerfeld Paling Ikonik Sepanjang Sejarah

Ia berhasil meneruskan karya Coco Chanel yang tak lekang oleh waktu.

Dream - Bapak fashion dunia, Karl Lagerfeld mengembuskan napas terakhirnya di Paris, Selasa 19 Februari 2019. Karl meninggal di usia 85 tahun.

Kabar itu diumumkan oleh rumah mode Chanel lewat akun resmi Instagramnya.

" Dengan duka yang amat mendalam, House of CHANEL mengumumkan bahwa Karl Lagerfeld, Creative Director dari CHANEL Fashion House sejak 1983 telah meninggal dunia," tulis Chanel di keterangan foto.

Pria berdarah Jerman itu merupakan tokoh fashion paling ikonik di dunia. Sejak bergabung di Chanel, ia berhasil meneruskan karya Coco Chanel, founder dari brand kenamaan Paris.

Dilansir dari Vogue, salah satu karya yang paling terkenal adalah tweed skirtsuits. Busana dari bahan wol itu telah menjadi ciri khas Chanel sejak masa kepemimpinan Carl.

Tak ketinggalan dengan handbag klasik beraksen quilt. Dilengkapi dengan logo 'Double C', tas tersebut selalu masuk ke dalam daftar koleksi barang mewah sosialita.

Karyanya itu merupakan wujud penghormatan kepada Coco yang meninggal dunia pada 1971.

" Tugasku bukanlah melakukan apa yang telah ia (Coco) lakukan sebelumnya, melainkan apa yang memang akan ia lakukan bila masih hidup," tutur Karl, seperti tertera di keterangan foto.
